You get a "Connection refused" error because the software has been discontinued due to legal matters. Since no update was applied for a long time, Spotify changed the way their music is played, thus making the Spotydl program useless. No matter the settings used (VPN, proxy, etc), you will always get a Connection refused error.
I try to import playlist in Spotydl by copy/paste URI from Spotify. It responds: Network Operation timed out. What does this mean? Also, Spotydl won't let me drag or use pop up menu to move songs from Spotify to Spotydl. Please help me before my premium expires.

This application is marked as being discontinued by the developers, therefore it's impossible to provide support for something that isn't maintained. The error you encounter can be directly related to the compatibility issues between older and obsolete version and the newer Spotify updates released on a weekly period. Try reinstalling Spotydl again and if you have the possibility, download an older version of Spotify.
I do all the steps to get to the download stage, but it downloads only a couple of songs or none at all. It either says Spotydl has encountered a problem and has to close and I have to start over, or it says error http 404, or error http connection error, or no results, or file too small.
I have tried the record button and the download another version. Most of the songs are older songs but not all. I have also unclicked the download not popular versions. Please, help, If you can, with suggestions.

The support for this application doesn't actually exist. I have tried to browse to what it seemed to be the official website, but a DNS error is given instead which means the developer and the website are out of business. You will have to look for another way because it's impossible to troubleshoot the application. I have seen users on reddit and other forums that had the same issues with the application.
Try reinstalling the software and then checking your Firewall and make sure the Spotydl is allowed to communicate with the Internet, because this could also be considered an issue.
No, you can download every song you like as long as the Spotify is installed, however, the application has some limitations such as hotkeys disabled, 2 maximum download sessions. Besides that, it seems that it's now discontinued. The official website does not work anymore.
Unfortunately, Spotydl is a freeware application which allows you only to download and organize music into playlists. Open the application and go to Help > How to use to check the program user manual. In order to burn a CD you can use a utility from the Software Informer database.

For most of the playlist it says under Status "Could not get song dates" and will not download the songs. How can I fix this?
The software has been discontinued due to legal matters. It was illegal to download or save music from Spotify.
You can check this information in the About section on the Facebook page for the application: https://www.facebook.com/Spotydl
Support doesn't exist and there are no other versions released to support the upcoming Spotify updates.
